Mor
personal identity design
embracing Manadonese values
Mor Dominus Bastiaan is the upcoming star in the political scenery in Manado in 2016, at when he decided to run the campaign for the Vice Mayor position and succeeded. Upon taking his new duty, he realized the need for an image that reflects the essence of his personality as well as values he stands for, in order to communicate better with the local people.
Even though the strategy is to create a sociable image that enables Mor to engage better with the locals, it is still necessary to maintain a particular honorable manner due to his political position in the local context as the vice mayor. The key challenge is narrowing down the design direction to balance between an engaging, approaching personal identity and a respectable important figure.
Once the direction is set, local visual languages such as batik patterns, motifs, and cultural objects are used to tell the story of Mor’s origin. Those local inspirations help to create a familiar identity that fulfills the objective and aesthetic requirement of the brand. The brand application then is strategically executed in label sticker format. This format allows the brand to be adaptable in almost all communication devices, thus increases the engaging ability of the brand and its popularity.
